Columbia City is a little, welcoming community, located in Northeast Indiana, United States. It’s a small town with a long history and rich heritage. It is a community with bright future, sharing a promising commitment towards continuous development and an eminence of traditional life style.

This town and its neighboring areas are home to few of the Indiana’s fastest increasing technological, manufacturing and service based industries as well as for the ever expanding residential developments.

The city is considered to be a part of Fort Wayne metropolitan area. Located in Whitley County, Columbia City has a population of 8,750, according to the 2010 census. As of the 2000 census, the city comprised of 7,077 people, 3,018 households and, 1874 citizens.

Columbia City was founded in the year 1839 with a very few residents. Previously, the city was called as ‘Columbia’ and the word ‘City’ was added in 1854. Formally the city was incorporated into the state in the year 1888. It is unknown who the first official settler was, but it was found that a man named Asa Shoemaker was the first one to settle down in the Columbia Township in 1837.

The government of Columbia city consists of a mayor with five member city council. The city council person and mayor are elected in a citywide voting, while each city council member is elected from individual city districts covering the southeast, northeast, southwest and northeast regions. A person called as ‘city clerk treasurer’ is elected by the citizens.

The famous tourists’ attraction in Columbia City consists of the Woodland Water Gardens Nursery, which is famous amongst kids. The Morsche Park, the Black Pine Animal Park and the Devol Field are popular among the citizens. The citizens of Columbia City ardently celebrate the ‘Old Settler's Day’ and ‘Mihsihkinaahkwa Powwow’ festival every year. Pigeon River State Fish and Wildlife Area are some of the nearby places to visit.

Tourists can visit this community without difficulty through the nearby available transportation. The nearest airport to the Columbia city is the Fort Wayne International Airport.

Columbia city higher education is offered at the well known University of Notre Dame, Indiana University, and at the Indiana Wesleyan University. Some of the well known schools in the city are the Columbia City High School and the Indian Springs Middle School.
